New Year’s Eve Party Dresses- How to Remix an Existing Dress for NYE
New Year’s Eve is round the corner and a lot of you are browsing for New Year’s Eve party dresses. If you’re like me, you’re looking forward to starting the year right in a showstopper that doesn’t bleed your wallet. If you don’t want to splurge on a new dress for New Year’s and are searching for ways to remix an existing dress in your wardrobe to create the ultimate New Year’s Eve party dress, continue reading to get inspired…
So what makes this dress, the perfect New Year’s Eve outfit? For that, you’ll have to watch how the dress moves in all its glory.
I bought this dress a few years back on ASOS and it’s called the ‘Olsen Dress’. It’s a blatant nod to the Olsen Twins who are the queens of the luxe goth look. I love to move in this dress because it has slits by the bucket load but due to the layers, you can still keep your modesty (should you choose to). I couldn’t resist pairing my maxi black dress with a bolero leather jacket because it edges up the look. The gold lace mask adds an air of mystery to my ensemble…I’ve always wanted to attend a Masquerade Ball in a decadent villa in Tuscany tsigh…
As you know I’m all about affordable yet stylish fashion. It’s the end of the year and you’ve probably spent a lot on festive house decoration, gifts, donations, Christmas party outfits and for a lot of you- the last thing you want to do is spend a fortune on a killah NYE party dress which after being worn spend its remaining lifetime residing at the back of your closet. So in the spirit of budget-friendly style, I’ve got a few ideas on how you can look great for less this NYE.
NYE Budget-Friendly Party Dressing Tips
- Remix a dress– There’s nothing I love more than remixing a dress which essentially means styling a dress in a different way to breathe a new lease of life into it. For example, I normally wear this dress with black tights but for this NYE, I’ll wear it with a pair of purple metallic tights. Moral of the story? Instead of splurging on a new dress, buy a wallet-friendly pair of colourful statement tights instead.
- Accessories– A few choice accessories can make the world of difference to your NYE party outfit. One way to make your black dress not appear frumpy or basic (Heavens Forbid!!) is to wear a mask with it. It creates the perfect air of mystery and glamour. Go on, I dare you! Another way of reviving a dress for a NYE event is by pairing it with a cloak. Many moons ago, I revived a long black silk gown I had by accessorizing it with a black cobweb cloak. Take a look and see.
I hope these tips were helpful, what are you wearing for NYE? When it comes to New Year’s party dresses, what do you look out for? Do tell, I’d love to know.
See you in the new year, Bisous
