Fashion Trends – A/W 2016 Trends I Refuse to Wear
I love Autumn/Winter (A/W) because when it comes to fashion, there are habitually lots of textures, fabrics and structures to choose from. Also, it’s always interesting to see which long gone decade, Fashion will set her beady eyes on. I don’t follow fashion trends but I am interested to see what the current styles are said to be all the rage by the powers that be. Sometimes, I find that I am on trend by default, for example, I love leather and stocked on lots of leather pieces last year only to find out it was ‘on-trend’, but then there are some fashion trends that I choose to like from afar as due to my personal style and/or body type, they are just not for me. A/W 2016 Fashion Trends I Refuse to Wear
Hell No, Number 1- Denim
Denim is one of those fashion trends that creeps into every fashion season. I understand its versatility and its contemporary appeal. However I believe that everyone else wears denim so I don’t have to.
Hell No, Number 2- Velvet
Is it me, or is everyone and their pesky stepmother currently wearing velvet on Instagram? I’m a 90s girl, so velvet brings back good memories. I even have a black velvet blazer that was gifted to me by my sister hanging in my LDN wardrobe. I don’t mind velvet, but I can very easily skip it.
Hell No, Number 3- Exaggerated Outerwear
In case you are wondering, ‘Who the hell wears this?’, go to fashion shows during autumn or winter time. You will be able to weed out the fashion students in no time because they are prone to dressing all the waaaay up so they can be photographed. I want to be papped too but I still want to look *uckable, so I’ll give this trend a pass.
Hell No, Number 4- Trouser Suits
The right trouser suit on a woman can look the business. I also recently did a post on androgynous fashion where I featured some sharp trouser suits. However, in my opinion trouser suits look best on lean, lanky or willowy frames and as I have more thighs and breasts than a bucket of KFC chicken, I rather wear a skirt suit.
Hell No, Number 5- Cross Body Fur Stoles
When it comes to looking extra, a cross body fur stole will do the trick! I am from the More is More tribe so I should be all about this trend. Alexis Carrington certainly is, but for some reason, I’m not fussed. I think when wearing a fur stole this way, you always have to make sure it’s in the right position or you’ll appear messy and baby, ain’t nobody got time for all that adjusting, fussing and fidgeting.
So there you have it, I could have listed much more but I may do that in a Part 2 version of these theme. Would you like to see more A/W 2016 fashion trends I refuse to wear? What A/W 2016 fashion trends are you giving a pass?
