Faux Fur Jackets – How To Rock This Statement Outerwear Trend
Yes it’s March and whilst fashion blogs and magazines are waxing lyrical about how spring has sprung, here in Berlin, the evenings are still chilly as a mother -oooooh wash that mouth! I got my look-at-me faux fur jacket when Berlin was in the thick of winter and I’m still wearing it in the evenings because those icy harsh winds don’t seem to be going anywhere soon. This season- thanks to Zara and other stores firmly on fashion’s pulse- we have seen an assortment of faux fur jackets in different shapes and colours. As soon as I saw this faux fur beauty on Peekaboo.com’s online store via ASOS’s Marketplace, I knew I had to get it because it was so different from the other faux fur jackets I had seen both online and offline. Not only is this jacket an extra large, it has a very defined print which means before I throw it on, I do have to put some thought into what I’ll pair it with so I don’t look like a crazed Oompa Lumpa. My Faux Fur Jacket Tips
This is especially the case with a faux fur print jacket like mine- due to the off-white, grey and black print, I chose to wear an all-black outfit underneath. If your faux fur jacket has a loud colour or print, keep the rest of the colours muted and vice versa.
To put some extra sparkle and add some depth to my look, I opted for metallic accessories.
PS when it comes to colourful faux fur jackets, I have to give 2 shoutouts to 2 digital influencers who inspire me. Alexander and Vanessa. I recently started following Alexander on Instagram and I can honestly after seeing her rainbow assortment collection of faux fur jackets, I headed to ASOS’s Marketplace to get some for myself! And with Vanessa, I adore how effortlessly chic she looks in her faux fur jackets.
Play with proportions wisely
When wearing a voluminous faux fur jacket, it’s best to streamline your look by keeping your bottom half as tapered as possible. This can be tricky for me as I don’t like wearing trousers and never wear jeans. If you own slim-fit trousers or skinny jeans, I’d advise you to pair them with your faux fur jacket to balance out your look. Since this post, I bought a pair of fab black Zara culottes and they would look great with this jacket.
Have you ever done a Personal Style post and then bought a piece afterwards, you wish you could have included in the post? Tsigh…
Dress up or down
The great thing about faux fur jackets is their versatility, for that casual, ‘I’m with the band look’ opt for a cropped shaggy faux fur jacket and style it with your skinniest and most distressed denims. If you can show some peekaboo black fishnets underneath the rips in your jeans, you will forever have that coveted backstage pass. If you are more gla-MORE!, a longer faux fur coat is the way to go and invest in some luxe knee or over-the-knee boots that mean business.
With all the different styles of faux fur jackets, my tips will set you on your merry faux fur way but they are not exclusive. So if any of you have any more tips to add, do share in the Comments section below.
