A/W ’16 Trends: Red, Lace and Leather
The weather is cooling down and the sun is moments from setting on our summer dreams and when I find myself feeling glum about the inevitable approach of Autumn, I cheer myself up by remembering- with a new season comes new-well, reworked!- trends. Today, my #OOTD plays with key A/W 2016 trends: red, lace and leather. Continue Reading for A/W 16, red, lace and leather trend inspiration.
One of the things Saint Laurent, Moschino and Isabel Marant’s A/W 2016 runways shared was their nod to 80s glamour. And if you were lucky enough to attend Milan A/W 2016 fashion week, you’ll remember that Dolce & Gabbana, Moschino and Bally sent their models bitchstomping down the catwalk in fiery red ensembles.
I mixed these trends together to recreate this look. In this 80s red lace and tulle dress, I feel I’m ready to rock any 80s movie prom scene, legendary 80s filmaker, John Hughes (RIP) throws at me!
One of the things I miss about living in London is sourcing from stores that sell statement tights like the embellished ones I’m wearing. I bought these bad boys years ago in Topshop but sadly, I don’t remember the name of the brand that made them, tsigh…
I adore this halter neck red lace prom dress, I bought it in London during one of my Portobello market raids, I kid you not, it must be about 10 years old now! Can you believe I’ve still not found the perfect event to wear it too? Very often I buy outfits for the social life I believe I should have rather than the one I actually have! Buy hey, perhaps I did find the perfect occasion for it- this shoot!
I love tongue-in-cheek jewellery, I find it keeps me young. So when I saw this Red Lips bracelet in H&M, I pounced on it! It’s sold out now, sob.
BTW back on the topic of trends, if the Zara stores are anything to go by- tulle is going to be everywhere this A/W. Personally, I’m all about that, I love the playful nature of tulle and the va va voom it gives to a woman’s figure.
Do you know I have a #StyleInMotion series that I now upload on my YouTube channel? Head over to it and see how I sashayed shanted in this ensemble. I think it’s the best one in the series so far and I have to thank my photographer and dear friend Patricia Santos for that, as she films my #StyleInMotion series. It is such a joy to create these shots and videos with her!
