Blogger, Eugenie Grey Shows How To Make Fetish-wear Fashionable
Last week, I went to a sex shop and bought a triple silver chain dog collar, the week before that I got a black lace cat ears headband, I’m obsessed with black leather and I can’t get enough of wearing harness bras over peekaboo tops: its safe to say I’m going through a BDSM phase. But how does one rock this libidinous look out of fashion shoots, music videos and nightclubs? Can BDSM looks be rocked stylishly in the harsh light of day? Well, Eugenie Grey aka Feral Creature aka one of my favourite bloggers on this planet shows us how to wear fetish fashion…Before I show you Eugenie’s fantastic looks, let me tell you a short story to give this post some background. Once Upon A Time in an (expensive) Kingdom far, far away called London. There lived a full-time stylist and writer called Biki and one day whilst she was browsing through a press office’s showroom, she came upon a fab jewellery label- Fanni Schiavoni (They made custom pieces for Rihanna hellloooo…). She was so inspired by the S & M inspired pieces in the collection that she styled a shoot where she intertwined the fetish-like accessories with the rest of her press outfits. The End.
Here are 2 looks from the shoot, which I styled about 10 years ago.

So as you can see fetish fashion has been my thing for a while. However, I didn’t experiment with the look fully on myself: sure I loved black PVC, leather, lace etc. but it wasn’t until this year that I really began building my risqué wardrobe. One of the catalysts for that was definitely Eugenie Grey, I stumbled upon her blog last year and when I did, I was compelled to do something I do with one or two bloggers a year: I kept on scrolling to see her previous work and as Eugenie started blogging in 2007, I had a lot of catching up to do.
Eugenie’s fabulously assorted #OOTD ensembles, show that S & M inspired pieces need not look seedy but can be cool and edgy. With strategic layering, you can rock the look out of a dungeon and away from the dark, winding tunnels of a sex club.
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, here is the evidence:
Fetish-wear Style Tips
- First things first, if by now you’ve not mastered the art of layering (yes its an art form), then this way of dressing, is kinda like totally not for you.
- If like me you are Team #AllBlackEverything, black and silver harnesses will add depth and character to your outfit.
- If you like your hues on the lighter shade of pale, as Eugenie shows from her pastel shade ensemble, a white harness is just the thing to stop you looking too saccharine.
- Mix the rough with the smooth, go crazy with your textures and mix metallics, fur, leather…
- Incorporate heavy harness belts with your outfit to create a badass utilitarian look
- Wearing a chess harness over beautifully constructed and tailored pieces will make your S & M inspired look classy not trashy
I had so much fun writing this piece and going through Eugenie’s blog, get obsessed with it/her here.
