I’m A Festival Vampire
Hey Peeps, Monday came too quickly didn’t it…tsigh. Now, how many of you are planning to attend or have already been to a music festival this summer? Being a fan of dramatic and theatrical dressing, I love summer festival style. I may not be able to attend one this summer due to this, that and the bloody other, but I can still incorporate the essence of festival style in my everyday wear. When it comes to looks to rock during music festival season, there are so many ideas to pick from the festival style platter: cut off denim’s and rock T’s, vintage boho dresses, glitter makeup, festival feather hairclips…
If you’ve noticed this summer, I’ve been wearing a looooot of black, one of my blogger mates Meron- from the fab FashionStyleMogul -recently pointed it out to me and she’s right. Despite my wardrobe bursting with prints and bold hues that are just begging to catch the rays of the summer sun, in my dark closet they stay because right now I’m Team #AllBlackEverything.
For this outfit I was mainly inspired by the album cover of Fleetwood Mac’s, Rumours. Hellooo Stevie Nicks’s billowy all-black outfit screams Drama! Then there’s Drusilla, the psychotic and irresistible vampire from the epic, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I had so much fun doing this shoot, I knew I wanted the scene to be in a forest type setting and my thought process was: if I was a vampire and for one day I was granted powers to face the sun and I went to a summer festival, what would I wear?
I adore this black maxi floaty dress from Japonica, with the right amount of layering I can wear it from summer through to winter. I think this dress shows how to pull of an all-black look when the sun comes out. It’s black and long but the fabric is light and summer friendly. The lace detailing also softens up the stark hue, as do the white buttons.
